Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of an EHS framework and Safety Manual for the organization.
- Formulate the working plan for creating awareness of safety and implement strategies to minimize accidents at the plant.
- Survey the environment to keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and changes in the regulatory framework in the area of EHS, nationally and internationally; Develop appropriate strategies to address/incorporate the same.
- Develop the department budget and ensure adherence to the same.
- Eliminate any risks due to EHS violations. Assess EHS risks and undertake corrective action /precautionary measures to minimize potential risks.
- Carry out Surveys, audits and analyze the trends and formulate action plans to improve on any issues/ concerns for good EHS management.
- Drive EHS promotional campaigns and involve all stakeholders to drive interest and motivation across all levels.
- Formulate campaigns to maintain employee awareness of requisite standards in managing risks and emergency actions.
- Organize and conduct training programs on EHS regulations and policies; Conduct practical demonstrations on the usage of safety equipment.
- Work closely with all internal departments to conduct mandatory safety committee meetings on a regular basis.
- Liaise with Plant Head &, HODs to ensure adherence to statutory safety requirements by all workers & contract labor.
- Liaise with the Head of Legal & Head- Quality to ensure legal compliance related to EHS for operations and maintenance activities.
- Liaise with government authorities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and for associated inspections at the sites/units.
- Continuously monitor/inspect environmental parameters to ensure effluents are treated as per SOPs.
- Review and analyze accident investigation reports and monthly statistical reports; Recommend and implement action plans to prevent the recurrence of such accidents.
- Liaise with the administration department to ensure availability, maintenance, and upkeep of safety-related equipment as per safety norms on a regular basis.
- Drive the maintenance of an MIS of all EHS notifications, inspection documents, certifications, and other related documentation; Ensure timely submission of all documents to the concerned authorities/departments.
- Develop/update department SOPs, On-Site Emergency Plan & Safety Manual; Lead the development of a framework for EHS inspections & certifications.
- Perform HAZOP of different Processes and also Exposure to Industrial Hygiene.
Qualification: BSc, MS/M.Sc(Science) in Environmental science
