Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

This role’s primary purpose is to significantly improve access of Pfizer therapies in India Market.

  • Designing and detailing the Market Access Plan for Pfizer therapies in India and neighboring countries under India Market
  • Work with stakeholders in India’s commercial, Access, Finance, Policy, Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, Medical, Supply Chain, and global H&V functions in validating, and creating detailed strategy and implementation plans targeting access improvement in private and public segments.
  • Develop innovative access improvement models by surveying the landscape for new partnerships, and channel development
  • Identify access hurdles along the patient journey from incidence to treatment and adherence and determine deep patient insights on the hurdles. Ideate approaches to remove such hurdles and improve access.
  • Develop and submit proposals, obtain approvals, implement access plans with an end to end accountability, define project plan, and key success factors
  • Measure, analyze, report, and improve the impact of access solutions implemented.

This is an individual contributor and will report to the Market Access Lead.

Role & Responsibilities:

Strategic:
  • Develops strategies and innovative models to improve multifold access to Pfizer therapies in India.
  • Responsible for primary research or validation of information in understanding deep insights into the patient journey for key brands, to determine major hurdles limiting major access.
  • Ideates creates strategies and executes innovative projects in conjunction with brand teams and cross-functional stakeholders to overcome such hurdles and improve access.
  • Works with the Pricing team in creating new payor partnerships, or out-of-pocket access improvements
  • Works with the Patient Support Program team to improve the number of patients on PSP as well as the patient experience.
  • Researches technologies or opportunities in order to leverage for improving access to patients.
  • Design innovative models and explore the scope for outcome-based payment models / HEOR-driven models / value-based to maximize access
  • Works with financing organizations (e.g., key health insurance, NBFC) to improve access or implement projects

Operational:
  • Implements the strategies, while working on operational elements such as price approvals, patient journey maps, stakeholders maps, influencer maps, and internal documentation.
  • Ensures that projects are executed on time
  • Understand market access plan framework, and create access plans for core brands.
  • Presents the market access plans to Senior leadership
  • Tracks execution and creates dashboards for projects
  • Works with brand teams, and access teams to create or validate patient journey maps and understand or validate deep insights for access hurdles.
Digital:
  • Leverage technology to improve access, and implement or provide analytical, business, and compliance insights for access initiatives.
  • Leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, fintech, and other emerging technologies to improve access such as awareness, early or correct diagnosis, and adherence.
People Management:
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly collaborative with brand teams, pricing, patient support, compliance, legal, finance, supply chain, and medical functions.
  • Interacts and Presents to health and value partners across regions and globally to represent access projects for the Indian market.
  • Able to influence the above stakeholders to showcase the need to invest in projects, and convince them on how access shall improve multifold.
  • Able to influence the above stakeholders to prioritize responses or resources for access projects.

Compliance:

  • Ensures all patient journey information, and program creation and implementation are in adherence to internal policies and compliance guidelines.
  • Demonstrates “courage” to ideate, convince stakeholders, and execute innovative access improvement projects keeping the patient at the center and creating “equity” for all by reducing healthcare disparities.
  • Ensures that deep-rooted patient insights are obtained accurately while not contacting patients directly and creating moments of “joy” for HCPs or those surveyed.

External:
  • High-Mid level stakeholders in Central & State Government, Health Secretaries, Board of Health, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority
  • High-Mid level stakeholders in non-banking financial organizations, NGOs, Industry groups or associations, Think tanks, private and Govt. hospitals, and key health insurance companies

Basic Qualifications:

  • MBA/ Master’s Degree with 5 -10 yrs of experience in a consulting firm, or Pharma Company and with preferably about 2 years in a market access role, in a development consulting firm, or in Industry Bodies
  • Knowledge of the Indian Healthcare system including health policy & pharmaceutical industry dynamics and strong know-how of Indian Pharma Market
  • Understanding of business models of industries outside of pharma viz. banking, micro-financing, hospitals & Insurance
  • Exposure to building and implementing contracting strategies and innovative partnership and access models
  • Experience in strategy development and/or interaction with senior leadership/clients
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and partner with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills to interact with senior leadership.
  • Ability to work independently; self-starter to drive value creation.
