Job Description

Job Purpose

Develop, deploy and manage Site EHS & Environment Sustainability processes and systems to meet the Annual Operating Plan for the Site whilst minimizing the EHS risks inherent to Site Operations; ensure safety and occupational health of all personnel and material; ensure an optimal environment footprint – with strict adherence to statutory & legal requirements and Cipla Global  Standards & Procedures [Technical, cGMP & QMS, OHS & Env. Sustainability, Financial Control Environment, and HR].

Champion the deployment of Global EHS & Environment Sustainability Strategy at the Site by developing and driving the implementation of the Functional Strategic Capability  Plan for the Site; build a functional talent pipeline & capability; drive continual improvement in functional processes & systems as well as performance measures towards “ Best in Class “ performance.

Key Accountabilities

Site Operations support to deliver the Annual Operating Plan
  • Ensure that site EHS organization is adequately positioned and empowered for providing necessary EHS support for the execution of operating plans.
  • Ensure EHS vigilance during routine and nonroutine operations.
  • Ensure no business interruptions arise out of untoward EHS incidents.
Statutory  Compliance & Boundary Management
  • Ensure that all EHS licenses are available and conditions complied
  • Ensure Statutory requirement compliance as per CMT
  • Oversee liaisoning with government authorities for getting Licenses within due dates
  • Monitor and adapt to changes in statutory requirements
Site EHS & Environment Sustainability processes and systems
  • Ensure safety improvements in new projects and major changes by Audits, HAZOP, Safety Studies, and Change control system
  • Ensure compliance with recommendations from audits, Investigations, etc.
  • To ensure closure of safety committee recommendation
  • Ensure emergency preparedness across the Site to reduce the impact of Incidences on human and property
  • Ensure timely response to emergencies
  • Ensure timely maintenance of safety equipment and maintain required spares
  • Ensure accident investigations are carried out and recommendations compliance done
  • Perform random checks of safety items and systems to ensure all-time readiness
  • Coordinate with vendors for knowledge sharing about developments in Safety and vendor cost optimization
  • Initiate and manage events for the promotion of safety
  • Align stakeholders for safety improvements
  • Incorporate safety best practices from across sites and industries
Compliance with Cipla Global Standards & Procedures
  • Ensure that a governance mechanism is in place for the implementation of all EHS global standards.
  • System of internal audits for ensuring that implementation of standards is sustained.
  • Provide support by ensuring the availability of updated documents during external EHS and GMP documents
Global Operations and Global EHS & ES  Strategy Deployment
  • Preparation of site-specific plans to achieve Global EHSS objectives.
  • Obtaining necessary techno-commercial approvals
  • Tracking the progress of implementation plans and necessary interventions and guidance
EHS & ES Capital Project Program Deployment
  • Foresee the future requirements of EHS infrastructure for statutory/must have/good to have programs.
  • Estimate and Budgeting for the identified projects
  • Maintain cross-functional coordination for project management
  • Plan, monitor and track the cost reduction programs for water/wastewater/solid wastes
EHS Operations Excellence  & Cost Productivity
  • Develop systems to ensure that the EHS installations are always in good working conditions through proper inspections, operations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure that the efficiency parameters are checked and improved for EHS equipment and machinery.

  • Develop TNI matrix
  • Develop the professional competencies of the team in order to improve overall safety standards
  • Nominate selected members for professional training
  • Ensure periodic performance feedback  and developmental inputs to facilitate meeting Objectives

Education Qualification

Graduate in Engineering with an advanced diploma in safety/environment.

Relevant Work Experience

15-20 years of work experience, minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in chemical/API/Pharmaceuticals
