Job Description
Position Summary:
- The Supply Chain Manager External Supply (ES) is responsible for overseeing and directing all supply chain management activities for multiple Contract Manufacturers (global scope) and products for Pfizer Biopharma.
- Working in partnership with Virtual Site Operation Teams (VSOT), Contract Manufacturers’ supply chain management, and ES Operations, the position will utilize excellent analytical & critical thinking skills in planning multiple products and have the key responsibility to co-ordinate and support a smooth and efficient operation of supply chain processes to ensure customers’ satisfaction and cost-effective supply chain.
- The colleague will directly support global initiatives and ES Operations in the implementation of strategic and tactical plans to secure a timely supply of products and achieve cost targets as well as all other targets of the ES and GSC Balanced Scorecard.
- The role requires a highly motivated individual, who is a self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
- Leads and develops a (team of) Supply chain planner(s)/Specialist(s). As a recognized subject matter expert coaches and develops others using their own relevant experience, as such enhancing their learning and capabilities, and providing the necessary tools to ensure supply chain excellence.
Position Responsibilities:
- The functional subject matter expert and responsible person for the execution of all product-specific supply chain activities in the Virtual Site Operations Team (VSOT), including customer service, planning, procurement, and logistics support for all assigned products, as such delivering on Balanced Score Card (BSC) metrics; customer service, MOH inventory targets, coverage metrics, etc.
- Establishes strong working relationships with CMOs to attain optimal levels of production output, and minimize costs while adhering to agreed-upon production schedules thereby delivering superior levels of customer service.
- Provides CMO supply performance metrics to VSOT for CMO Scorecards in order to track and identify CMO performance trends related to customer service.
- Supply assurance – monitor and track supply outlook including supply issues resolution Inventory management and deployment.
- Participate and collaborate closely within the Virtual Site Operations Team (VSOT) on supply/demand changes, pricing changes, vendor/customer issue resolution, contractual issues, etc.
- Monitor and track supply outlook including supply issues resolution.
- Develop and update a rolling 24 months master schedule based on demand forecasts, available capacity, inventory policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure global inventory management policies and processes are in place.
- Inventory management of consigned materials:
- Planning for the right stock levels of mainly API
- Reconciliation of the consigned materials on a periodic basis
- Assuring full SOX and local statutory compliance for inventory management
- Lead and support inventory and production transition planning for new product transfer projects.
- Incumbent is responsible to establish a yearly verified volume budget and the quarterly tracking of actuals and year-to-date versus budget.
- Maintain regular contact with the logistics centers and global planning to resolve demand and supply issues.
- Through collaboration with key stakeholders, accountable for driving continuous improvements in supply chain processes, establishing / meeting performance objectives, and operational changes. Gives constructive and proactive feedback.
- Exchanges ideas and experiences with peers from own and other sites to enhance own and others’ experiences.
- Work on continuous improvement and streamline procedures and processes to be used by the team and secure that processes are documented.
- Create and sustain an improvement culture by actively stimulating and supporting Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Lead and facilitate the implementation of various projects and initiatives that impact the supply chain team.
- Collaborate with all other teams within the Supply Chain Hub (Artwork, PSS, Projects) and outside the hub (Intercompany Operations Customer Service, logistics, transport, customs, etc.) to assure supply and improve the efficiency of processes.
- Provide people management (to Supply Chain Planner(s)) in following areas:
- Be the first point of reference for planning colleagues in the team for matters relating to product supply
- Train, support, and monitor ES planning colleagues in the team
- Create a highly engaged working environment by actively working on an action plan to improve colleague engagement
- Actively engage in the development and deployment of best practices
- Organize the activities of the Supply Chain team by securing adequate distribution of the workload and organizing back-up in absence of a team member
- Generally, reviews own and team’s work and solicit directional review from others as appropriate (manager, key stakeholders)
- Upon request provides ad hoc guidance to peers and may review work completed by other colleagues when acting in a coaching/mentor role.
- Flexibility on daily working hours, given the position’s workload variability and interaction with stakeholders in other time zones (Asia, US, EU).
- Travel may be required from time to time (10%).
- There is no relocation associated with this role.
Organizational Relationship:
The large diversity in working relationships (CMOs, Operations Managers, Procurement, API Supply Leads (ASL), Brand Supply Leads (BSL), Product Portfolio Lead (PPL), Customer Service Representative (CSR), External Supply Quality, Finance, PSS, AMP Hub, IO, GTE, etc.)
Qualifications:
Education:
- Technical Diploma or Materials Management/ SCM or Logistics Degree required.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and applications.
- Strong experience in Materials Management, production planning, and inventory management optimization algorithms.
- Digital literacy.
- Knowledge of SAP (and add-on modules such as APO) is required.
- MS Office skills are required. The usage of MS Access is an asset.
- APICS training/certification is an asset.
- Fluent in English (both spoken and written), other languages are an added value.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of working experience in Supply Chain related fields (planning, scheduling, procurement, logistics, customer service or demand management) with at least 5 years of experience in a planning role, preferably in the pharmaceutical/ chemical industry.
- Above site / regional or global experience.
- Proven experience working in a complex matrix organization with multi-country scope.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience interacting and building effective relationships at different levels within and external to the organization and across geographies is imperative including working with cultural differences and country-specific requirements.
