Job Description

Manager/Sr Manager Strategic Buying based at Mumbai Location

Position Objective:

  • Understanding Business Needs and developing sustainable sourcing strategies for each category in
  • Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain, HR services, Business Consulting, and R&D (including Clinical Research). Develop a Category Roadmap for Strategic Buying and pursue the acquisition of categories in line with the roadmap.
  • Support VP Compliance & Strategic Buying in handling audits, managing audit responses to observations, preparing sites to face audits, and ensuring post-audit actions are completed.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1. Strategic Planning, Budgeting and Compliance
  • Key stakeholder engagement.
  • Participate in the annual planning and budgeting activities and agree on the savings delivery
  • Identify quick wins for savings
  • Develop and maintain a rich reserve of market intelligence and competitor knowledge on similar categories through benchmarking
  • Participate in Strategic Project Initiatives for business
  • Handle process audits by the internal audit team, prepare sites for the process audit, support VP in drafting management response to audit observations, ensure post-audit actions by functional heads is completed
  • Financial savings delivery
  • Limiting audit observations
  • Proactive process improvements by identifying process gaps
2. Category Planning and Execution
  • Business partnering (acute, chronic and consumer)
  • Understand Key Business Requirements and ensure that sourcing strategies are developed to meet changing business needs.
  • Review strategies annually and if needed make necessary changes and seek necessary approvals from the sponsor.

Logistics & Distribution:

R&D:
  • Core R&D categories Lab Chemicals and Consumables, External Testing, Clinical Research (CROs), Software (LIMS/ELN), RLDs (Comparator drugs)
Site Indirect Expenses:
  • Consumables &Fuel (Buying and Transactions)
  • Develop Category Sourcing Plan for 1-3 years horizon for strategic categories.
  • Use strategic sourcing tools as required for the category
  • Present strategy execution updates to Marketing / Other Functional heads upon completion.
  • Ensure strategies are understood well by the business and ensure their execution by engaging cross-functional team and training them

3. Support to Marketing and Sales
  • Support Marketing and Sales / other business teams to spend the budgets wisely.
  • Create saving opportunities and plan implementation by collaborating with businesses.
  • Share with business on industry best practices and create value
  • Identify the right sourcing approach like Just Do It, Collaborating, and Joint Strategic Sourcing depending on the category need and knowledge expected.

4. Supplier Relationship Management
  • Move business to preferred suppliers and ensure share of the business isn’t diluted and proliferation is avoided
  • Simplify sourcing processes
  • Approve New Vendors in SAP and control the inflow

5. Strategic Project Initiatives (SPIs)
  • Participate in the SPI process and contribute to the business initiatives on Digital future Ideas generated

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • CA, MBA/PGDM in Operations.
  • 10-15 Years Experience
  • Salary: 20.00 – 25.00 L CTC/PA
